Ratonga whānau / service users

Specialist mental health and addiction services are delivered to those eligible whānau who are most severely affected by mental Illness or addiction.

We ensure eligible whānau will have timely access to high-quality, trustworthy, responsive services ranging across the spectrum of promotion and prevention, through to primary, community/NGO, specialist and regional services.

Ratonga whāinga / service objectives

The objectives of mental health and addiction services are to:

  • Be responsive to meet the needs of specific population groups and individuals, including Māori

  • Be responsive to whānau

  • Be recovery focused

  • Foster resilience

  • Encourage natural supports

  • Promote independence

  • Support whānau to make informed choices

  • Reduce inequalities

  • Promote seamless and integrated services

  • Value lived experience, enabling those with lived experience of mental illness and addiction to contribute to services in a variety of ways

Whakaurunga paearu / entry criteria

Referrals to the service may be made from any source, including self-referral. Some specialist services have specific requirements before accepting a referral. In these:
