The board sets and oversees the strategic direction of Te Piki Oranga, and governs our progress against strategic pou (goals).

Jane du Feu | Board Chair
Whakatū Marae Inc.

  • Jane is the Chairperson of Te Piki Oranga. She has worked for many years in the community for the benefit of whānau in the health and social sectors as well as working fulltime in education. Jane is passionate about the development and implementation of best practice for kaupapa Māori services to improve the health and wellbeing of whānau.

    Jane is the representative for Te Atiawa on the Whakatū Marae Committee, a Bishop Suter Trust Board trustee and has governance roles with Oranga Tamariki and Gateway Housing Trust. She was a trustee on Te Atiawa Manawhenua ki te Tauihu Trust for 19 years, the chairperson for nine years and has held a number of director roles in that time.

    Her iwi affiliations are Taranaki Tuturu, Ngāti Tama and Te Atiawa.

Keith Palmer
Te Āwhina Marae

  • Keith is the Deputy Chair of Te Piki Oranga. With an extensive executive and governance background he brings an array of skills to Te Piki Oranga in the financial, development and strategic areas.

    With a Bachelor of Commerce degree in accounting, economics, commercial law, psychology and mathematics, Keith has worked in financial, marketing and management roles across forestry, apparel, paper, finance and banking industries. In 1998 he was appointed as Wakatu Incorporation's first CEO, where he stayed until retiring in 2013.

    Keith is a trustee of the Jack Inglis Friendship Hospital and Te Āwhina Marae.

Lauree Ashworth
Rangitāne o Wairau

  • Lauree was introduced to the board of Te Piki Oranga as the iwi representative for Rangitāne o Wairau in August 2015. She has qualifications and background in social work. For almost 12 years she worked for Child, Youth and Family Services (now Oranga Tamariki) in the areas of social work, supervision and family group conference facilitation. Lauree has experience in Māori health and social services, telephone counseling, victim crisis intervention and residential social work. She has convened the Health and Wellbeing Portfolio for Te Rūnanga Rangitāne o Wairau Trust and was a member of the Iwi Health Board for Nelson Marlborough. Lauree is currently employed as a social worker for Te Whatu Ora Nelson Marlborough.

    Her iwi affiliations are Rangitāne, Ngāti Rārua, Ngāti Kuia and Te Atiawa.

Myra Dick
Whakatū Te Korowai Manaakitanga Trust

  • Myra has represented Whakatū Te Korowai Manaakitanga Trust since Te Piki Oranga was established in 2014.

    Myra says the similar kaupapa of these organisations reflects a strong commitment to the wellbeing of our whānau in Te Tauihu. Since 2020 there has been tremendous growth at Te Piki Oranga, as more pathways have been created to provide wellbeing support and care. This growth has been possible due to the dedicated work of kaimahi and kaiwhakahaere alike in facilitating interactions between whānau and health services.

Antoinette Paul
Ngāti Koata

  • Rau rangatira mā, tēnā koutou katoa,

    Antoinette represents Ngāti Koata on the Te Piki Oranga board. Since 2022 she has been helping to establish and drive a kaupapa Māori ‘first 2000’ days maternity and early childhood service.

    Antoinette acknowledges and thanks the kaimahi and the board for their ongoing commitment and support to improve health outcomes for whānau with the focus on a cultural approach to primary healthcare. “As we continue to expand our services, I look forward once again to the future for Te Piki Oranga.”

Patrick Smith
Ngāti Apa ki te Rā Tō

  • Patrick joined the Te Piki Oranga Board in November 2020 as the representative for Ngāti Apa ki te Rā Tō.

    Patrick is the founder and managing director of Patrick Smith Human Resources Ltd, based in Waimeha. With his expertise in human resources, it is important to Patrick that Te Piki Oranga is a great place to work and that there is an energised focus on workforce planning. Equally as important is Te Piki Oranga mahi to provide innovative solutions to reduce health inequities.

    Patrick founded his company in 2009. Before this he worked for Sealord Group Ltd in a variety of human resources roles, including 10 years at the group’s HR manager. Today, his clients come from both big and small business including exporters, council organisations, consulting services, education and professional rugby. He and his team enjoy helping business owners work through their HR challenges from strategic planning to training and recruiting staff. They are also experienced in business restructuring, mediation and disciplinary processes.

Isla Taunoa
Ngāti Toa Rangatira ki Wairau

  • Isla proudly represents Ngāti Kuia on the Te Piki Oranga board, having joined in July 2024.

    She brings with her a wealth of knowledge in all aspects of hauora, having a strong background in social work, mental health, and nursing. Isla is a registered Māori nurse currently working in clinical nurse lead roles within the Hauora Māori team at the Marlborough Primary Health Organisation in Wairau/Blenheim.

    She is also a representative on the Ngāti Toa Rangatira ki Wairau.

    Her iwi affiliations are Ngāti Kuia, Ngāti Toa Rangatira ki Wairau, Ngāti Koata, Kai Tahu and Ngāti Porou.
