We are seeking a dedicated and culturally responsive Child and Adolescent Mental Health Clinician to join our team based in Whakatū. In this role, you will work closely with tamariki and rangatahi who are experiencing psychological, emotional, or behavioural challenges. You will provide specialised mental health assessments, interventions, and ongoing support, ensuring that care is evidence-based, developmentally appropriate, and aligned with the needs of whānau.

You will be part of a multidisciplinary team that values collaboration, cultural safety, and holistic approaches to wellbeing. Your mahi will contribute directly to positive mental health outcomes and help strengthen the resilience and mana of the whānau we serve.

You are empathetic, highly communicative, and grounded in a whānau-centred approach to care. You bring strong clinical skills in assessment, planning, and intervention, and you’re confident navigating referral pathways and working alongside other professionals. You understand the importance of cultural identity in mental health and are committed to working in a way that upholds the values and aspirations of Māori communities.

Ngā pūkenga ka whai koe | Skills and Experience

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in health or an allied health field.

  • Current registration as a mental health practitioner.

  • A solid understanding of mental health conditions, interventions, and best practices.

  • Experience working with tamariki, rangatahi, and whānau in a mental health setting.

  • Strong relationships with key stakeholders in the health and social services sector.

  • Proficiency in report writing and client management systems (INDICI experience is a plus).

  • A commitment to cultural development and continuous learning.

  • A collaborative mindset and a willingness to contribute to a supportive team environment.

We are seeking a visionary Kaikōkiri Hinengaro to lead our Whakatū-based team.


Mō tenei tūranga mahi | About this role

As Kaikōkiri Hinengaro, you will provide professional and cultural leadership to our mental health and addictions kaimahi in Whakatū. You will ensure high-quality, whānau-centred service delivery while promoting Māori models of health and strengthening relationships across health and social sectors.

You will be a pou of support and guidance, fostering a space where kaimahi and whānau feel seen, heard and valued. Your leadership will weave together mātauranga Māori and contemporary practice to achieve holistic outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead with aroha and integrity, upholding tikanga Māori values in all aspects of mahi

  • Provide clinical and cultural leadership to the MH&AOD team

  • Coordinate referrals and ensure whānau receive timely, effective support

  • Lead multidisciplinary meetings and ensure safe, evidence-based practice

  • Support the professional development and wellbeing of kaimahi

  • Strengthen relationships with hapū, iwi and community partners

  • Ensure documentation and reporting reflect both clinical excellence and cultural responsiveness

  • Champion Māori models of health such as Te Whare Tapa Whā, Te Wheke, Te Pae Mahutonga, and Pōwhiri frameworks


Ko wai koe | About you

You are a leader who walks confidently in both worlds – te ao Māori and the clinical landscape. You bring deep understanding of Whānau Ora and a commitment to empowering others.
You will have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in health or a related field

  • Current registration with a professional body (e.g. nursing, counselling, social work)

  • Experience applying Māori models of mental health and addiction care

  • Proven leadership in team development and kaupapa aligned- practice

  • Sound knowledge of service delivery frameworks, triage, and clinical pathways

  • Excellent communication, cultural competency, and organisational skills

  • A reflective, growth-orientated approach to leadership

Desirable:

  • Experience in a tikanga Māori organisation

  • Experience working alongside lived experience practitioners and whānau voice

  • Familiarity with Te Tauihu services and networks

We are seeking a compassionate, culturally grounded counsellor to join our rōpū in Whakatū. This is a unique opportunity to uplift whānau through therapeutic support that honours identity, whakapapa and wairua.

As a Kaupapa Māori Counsellor, you will provide short term counselling and wellbeing support to whānau experiencing emotional, mental, or social challenges. Your mahi will be deeply rooted in Māori models of health, such as Te Whare Tapa Whā, Te Wheke, Te Pae Mahutonga, and Pōwhiri frameworks.
You will work within a whānau-centred, values-based service that prioritises cultural safety, whakawhanaungatanga, and holistic healing. Your role is not just to counsel, but to walk alongside whānau as they rediscover their strength, identity, and resilience


Key Responsibilites:

  • Provide therapeutic support that is culturally responsive and grounded in tikanga

  • Conduct holistic whānau ora and cultural assessments that reflect the full spectrum of wellbeing

  • Maintain culturally safe practice and uphold tikanga Māori values in all mahi

  • Co-create intervention plans that uplift mana and mauri

  • Promote and maintain culturally safe practice across your mahi

  • Collaborate with external providers including Te Whatu Ora, CAMHS/AOD, and iwi-based health services

  • Maintain accurate documentation and reporting in line with funder and legislative requirements


Ko wai koe / About you

You are someone who brings aroha, insight, and cultural integrity to your practice. You understand that healing is relational, and that whānau ora is achieved through connection, empowerment, and respect.
You will have:

  • Current registration as a counsellor

  • Tertiary qualification in counselling, health, or allied health

  • Ideally some experience working in mental health and/or tikanga Māori settings

  • Knowledge of Māori models of health and cultural safety

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence

  • Full NZ driver’s licence and willingness to travel across the region

Desirable:

  • Experience in a tikanga Māori organisation

  • Experience working alongside lived experience practitioners and whānau voice
