Te Piki Oranga is looking for a Kaitautoko Hapori-Health Coach based at Manu Ora for 32 hours per week. The Health Coach will support whānau with the motivation and capability to better understand and self-manage their physical and emotional wellbeing needs. They may also bridge the gap for whānau to access healthcare support related services. Whānau will be referred to the Health Coach by the clinical team, particularly the Health Improvement Practitioner (HIP) with whom they will work closely.
The purpose of this role is to:
Provide a support service that is accessible, integrated, coordinated and responsive to whānau
Liaise, facilitate and advocate for improved health outcomes with appropriate organisations on behalf of whānau within the practice Specific ‘Health Coach’ training for the successful applicant is to be undertaken upon starting in the role.
This is a key role that contributes to improving health outcomes for Māori, providing evidence-based services alongside a cultural model of care that promotes, improves and empowers best health outcomes for whānau.
Our ideal candidate will have:
Knowledge of the health sector, health privacy and health & disability rights
Experience working within the Māori community
The ability to engage with at-risk whānau and whānau with complex health and social needs –from a wide variety of backgrounds in a mana enhancing style
Well-developed and effective communication skills
The ability to handle situations effectively and respectfully
Ability to work independently
Competent computer skills
An understanding of how Te Tiriti o Waitangi applies to health and social services is desirable
Passion to support whānau to access effective and culturally appropriate services
A full driver’s license is essential
This Kaitautoko Hapori-Health Coach will be based primarily in the community with some time spent within our Te Piki Oranga Wairau Hub.

Based in Wairau this role provides specialised assessment, therapeutic intervention, and support for tamariki and rangatahi experiencing mental health and emotional wellbeing challenges, alongside their whānau.

You will work in a collaborative, culturally grounded environment that values clinical excellence, cultural safety, and mana enhancing practice and ideally you will bring:
A relevant tertiary qualification in health or allied health
Current professional registration as a mental health practitioner
Strong clinical knowledge of child and adolescent mental health
Experience or commitment to working within kaupapa Māori and whānau centred models
Confidence working with complex presentations and diverse communities
High emotional intelligence, professionalism, and ethical practice
Ability to work collaboratively within a team and across agencies
A full driver’s licence and ability to travel within the rohe

We are seeking a Mental Health Clinician / Te Ata Puāo Pūkenga Hauora Hinengaro to support Tangata Whaiora and their whānau experiencing mild to moderate distress. You will provide a blend of Māori health practices and evidence based clinical interventions, supporting whānau with holistic assessments, safety planning, therapeutic interventions, cultural korowai, and whānau ora planning.
This Wairau based role works as part of a multidisciplinary team, supporting clinical and cultural practice, whānau advocacy, care coordination, and service delivery across our rohe.

We are looking for someone who brings:
A relevant tertiary qualification in health or allied health
