Te Piki Oranga is the largest Tikanga Māori health service provider in Te Tauihu o Te Waka-a-Māui (Nelson, Tasman, Marlborough). We deliver whānau-centred health services from our hubs in Whakatū, Wairau, and Motueka, as well as through mobile clinics and home visits. Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role
We are seeking a Taura Atawhai to co-facilitate the Kia Taumata te Oranga Matrix programme as a tuakana with lived experience of methamphetamine use. In this part time role of 20 hours per week, you will support whānau both within and outside the programme, helping them access services, participate in group sessions, and navigate health systems.
Key responsibilities include:
Co-facilitating group sessions and supporting whānau between sessions
Conducting risk screenings and assisting with assessments
Facilitating referrals and transitions through health systems
Promoting Māori models of health and culturally safe environments
Participating in multidisciplinary team reviews and programme improvement

Lived experience of methamphetamine use
Cultural competency and the ability to engage effectively with Māori communities
Successful completion of vetting processes and be substance free
Strong emotional intelligence, communication skills, and ethical integrity
A commitment to continuous learning and a healthy lifestyle
A full driver’s license and ability to use IT systems
