We are seeking a passionate and experienced Human Resources Advisor to join our team and help shape a thriving, culturally safe, and engaged workforce. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to whānau wellbeing through people-focused HR practices grounded in tikanga Māori.

As Kaitohutohu Pumanawa Tangata, you will:

  • Provide expert HR advice that supports our values and enhances mana.

  • Lead recruitment, onboarding, and induction processes.

  • Support performance management and professional development.

  • Ensure employment relations are handled with fairness and cultural safety.

  • Maintain HR systems and documentation to meet legal and organisational standards.


Working closely with our leadership team and kaimahi across Te Tauihu, providing accurate and timely HR reports, metrics and workforce data to support decision making and compliance with funder and regulatory requirements.


Mōu | About you

To be effective in this role you will be culturally aware and mindful of the complexities with working in a Māori health organisation. Highly communicative and able to appraise, develop and provide guidance to all kaimahi across the organisation. Empathetic to the challenges whānau face and bring a non-judgemental solution focused approach to your mahi. Demonstrate success in aligning personal practice with the visions, goals, policies, and tikanga of Te Piki Oranga and their service delivery.

Our ideal candidates will have:

  • A degree in Human Resource Management (preferred).

  • 5–10 years’ HR experience, ideally within a Māori organisation.

  • Strong knowledge of NZ employment law and workforce planning.

  • Proven ability to build relationships, influence, and mentor.

  • Cultural competency and a commitment to kaupapa Māori values.

  • Full driver’s license.
