Mō tenei tūranga mahi / About this role

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Kaikōkiri Hinengaro to lead our mental health and addiction services in Whakatū. This pivotal role is responsible for ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and culturally grounded services to whānau, while providing leadership, support, and professional development to a team of dedicated kaimahi.

You will coordinate service delivery, oversee triage and referrals, lead multidisciplinary meetings, and work collaboratively with Te Whatu Ora, CAMHS/AOD, and other Māori providers. You’ll also play a key role in service evaluation, quality improvement, and fostering a supportive, high-performing team culture.

You are a confident and compassionate leader with a strong clinical background and a deep understanding of kaupapa Māori approaches to mental health and addiction. You are committed to empowering whānau and kaimahi, and you thrive in a collaborative, values-driven environment.

Ngā pūkenga ka whai koe | Skills and Experience

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in health or an allied field

  • Current registration as a mental health practitioner

  • Proven leadership experience and ability to mentor and develop teams

  • Experience working with Māori models of health and whānau-centred care

  • Strong clinical knowledge and understanding of MH&A service delivery

  • Competency in Te Reo Māori me ōna Tikanga (or a commitment to develop)

  • Proficiency in client management systems (e.g., INDICI) and report writing

  • A full driver’s licence and a healthy, auahi kore lifestyle
