AOD 'Lived Experience' Mentor

Te Piki Oranga is a regional Māori health provider delivering  services across Te Tau Ihu/top of the south, working in a Whānau Ora framework and "Te Ao Māori".

The position is fixed term for one year, 20 hours per week, working with our Whakatū team in Nelson. The role is designed for a person with lived experience who has skills to assist others to achieve sustainable recovery in addiction.

 The purpose of this role is to:

  • Demonstrate hope for programe participants that recovery is possible

  • Ensure the consumer perspective is strongly represented across the addictions sector

  • Add value to the planning and facilitation of groups/programs for whanau with addiction challenges

Essential specifications:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Knowledge of te reo me ona tikanga

  • Have an understanding and acceptance of Kaupapa Maori approaches

  • Continue personal recovery and journey while participating in the group programme and activities

  • Drivers license
